I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Microgreen to provide the lithium battery solution needed, in my quest to convert a trawler from diesel to electric propulsion.

I worked directly with the battery engineer Davy, and Microgreen custom built 4 - 15 kWh lithium batteries - to power my twin 30 KW electric motors, with 48 volts DC. Each motor is powered by 2 -15kWh batteries and they are in turn connected in parallel to a common bus, to equalize the draw, and to charge.

The entire Microgreen team has been more than helpful and very responsive to my questions. They provided both amazing support through the design phase and all the information I needed, to get the batteries connected into the power system. They even delivered one battery to my boat, because it needed some tweaking before installation.

The Microgreen batteries have performed approximately 10% better than specified. I have run them down to 5% with no issues which means I get 95% of the power from the batteries. I have tested them under a slow discharge at around 4 knots and fast discharge at full power, with no issues. I am more than satisfied. When using them as house batteries while anchoring out, only 3% of the battery bank is used per day to run everything, including coffee machine, microwave, electric hot water, TV, fans, water pump, and lighting.

Because of the success of the first four 15kWh batteries, I have ordered 2 more, to provide a total of 90kWh of power for next summer. I am so confident in these batteries that I plan to leave for a year and do the great loop, down the Mississippi River system and back up the East coast of the US, to the great lakes.
